Overview of our program
Our program is designed to create an enjoyable learning experience that encourages children to be enthusiastic about using and learning Cantonese. Children will learn in a Cantonese and English speaking playful environment through storytelling, singing, games, arts and crafts, and some writing activities. The curriculum is developed with children’s interests in mind and prioritizes practical scenarios that are relevant to their everyday lives, promoting active engagement and meaningful learning that can be applied outside of the classroom.
我們的課程創造愉快的學習體驗，鼓勵孩子們熱衷於使用和學習粵語。孩子們將通過講故事、唱歌、遊戲、美術和手工藝以及一些寫作活動，在講粵語和英語的有趣環境中學習。我們在設計課程時考慮到孩子們的興趣，並專注於他們可以在日常生活中關聯和使用的實際場景,促進積極參與和有意義的學習可以在課堂之外應用。

Beginner Cantonese Level 1 (Ages 3 - 5 yrs)
Advanced Cantonese Level 2 (Ages 5 - 7 yrs)
We permit one 2.5-year-old child per three to five-year-old class

Program Activities

| Free Play 自由活動 | To promote communication in Cantonese among the children, we arrange diverse play materials within the classroom. |
| Circle Time講故事 | At circle time, we incorporate story reading, song singing, and game playing to entertain and educate the children. The topics are carefully selected based on the children's age group and interests to ensure their active participation and engagement |
| Music 音樂 | To introduce the children to Cantonese nursery rhymes, we involve them in chanting, singing, and movement activities, such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (一閃一閃小星星) and "Brush Teeth Song" (刷牙歌). |
| Games 遊戲 | To booster the conversational skills and vocabulary of our students, we utilize interactive games as part of our teaching approach. |
| Arts & Crafts 手工 | To enrich the Cantonese learning experience for our students, we use relevant art and craft activities that align with the lesson topics, giving them a creative and hands-on approach to learning |
| Reading & Writing 讀和寫 | To facilitate the learning of Chinese characters, we teach our students new characters on a weekly basis, with teachers using visual aids and step-by-step instructions to demonstrate how to make each stroke of the characters |
Program Schedule
We are offering the following classes for Spring term 2023.
In Person Class at WOLO-1346 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC
Classes are offered on Saturdays.
First slot: 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM (age 3-5 & 5-7)
Second slot: 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM (age 3-5 & 5-7)
Third slot: 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM (age 3-5 & 5-7)
Date: April 1st to June 24th
(no class on April 8th and May 20th)
Online Class via Zoom
Group Classes are offered on Sundays.
First slot: 8:00AM – 8:30 AM
Second slot: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Third slot: 10:00 AM – 10:30AM
Fourth slot: 11AM-11:30AM
Date: April 16th to June 25th
(no class on May 21st due to Victoria’s day in B.C. Canada)

Our Head Teacher
Anny So
Ms. Anny So, an experienced Early Childhood Educator, has held licenses in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Infant & Toddler (IT), Montessori, and Special Needs (SN) education for 15 years. Beginning in 2012, I have been actively teaching Cantonese classes to young children. Subsequently, in 2019, I took on the role of supervising and coordinating the Cantonese programs at Fun Cantonese Basic.
"My 15 years of experience as a licensed Early Childhood Educator has taught me that every child possesses unique talents and abilities. As a Cantonese teacher, my aim is to provide an age-appropriate and non-traditional learning experience that nurtures children's curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for Chinese culture.
Our program aims to instill basic Cantonese knowledge and Chinese cultural understanding that inspires students to further explore the Cantonese language and Chinese heritage on their own. Ultimately, I hope to help preserve the Chinese heritage and Cantonese language for future generations while fostering strong family bonds by enabling children to learn and speak Cantonese, thereby maintaining positive relationships with their parents and grandparents."
Anny So老師擁有 15 年的持牌幼兒教育經驗，持有嬰幼兒 ,蒙特梭利和特殊教育執照。她從 2012 年開始教授粵語，隨後，在 2019 年，我開始監督和營運 Fun Cantonese Basic 粵語課程
